I love working with lawyers – maybe because I’m a lawyer, I have a soft spot for working with lawyers.
A study by the American Bar Association and the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation found that 28% of U.S. lawyers struggle with depression (up from 19% in 1990 – the last time a similar study was completed) and 19% struggle with anxiety.
These results are not surprising. As a lawyer, you are under tremendous and constant stress and pressure. Even if you love what you do, the stress of constant deadlines and huge work loads takes a toll. Add anxiety about getting and satisfying clients, making partner, and finding time for friends and family, and your mental and physical well-being, and social and emotional life are negatively affected.
What also suffers are the relationships in your life, and oftentimes it’s the romantic relationship that suffers the most. As a lawyer, I understand the stress and pressures you face. As a therapist, I’d love to help you with addressing your concerns, so that your relationships become more fulfilling.
The pesky concerns that interfere with relationships are:
- Extended family issues
- Work stress
- Lack of work-life balance
- Excessive worrying
- Difficulty sleeping and/or relaxing
Getting the help you need is a great thing. I offer you the chance to experience the emotional benefits of simply being able to talk to someone who is not judgmental. I offer a calm and peaceful space for you to unload the stress, anxiety, and worry, and I add a different perspective of the situation. Ready to improve your relationships?
